Piano Celebration in the Quad Cities

Piano Celebration is a local charity event that takes place every third weekend in April, in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois, at Northpark Mall in Davenport. The event features celebrity pianists, high-achieving student pianists, piano teacher studios, living room performers, musicians and vocalists. Piano students and participants raise money and then showcase their piano talent while spreading the word that Piano Study = Brain Development. Piano lessons support brain development, helps to develop self-confidence, creativity, self-esteem, self-discipline, and critical thinking skills. Piano study helps build critical thinking skills in people of all ages. The money that is raised at Piano Celebration by the students and the donations taken the day of the event go to the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois (RMH of EI & WI)

“The Ronald McDonald House is a “home away from home” for these families with pediatric patients. Scott and Rock Island Counties are among the highest counties of residence for families served at the RMH of EI & WI” said Ed Zastrow, Executive Director of the RMH of EI & WI.  Since 1985, 2,005 family members from Scott County and 1,241 from Rock Island County have called it “home”. The RMH of EI & WI. It is a 501c3 organization that receives no state or federal tax dollars, relying 100% on private gifts. McDonalds Corporation donates a portion of the necessary funds, but the House relies on individual donors for the majority of its monetary in-kind gifts.

In 2014, over 400 students and guest pianists in the Quad Cities entertained the crowds raising over $34,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City. Since its conception, Piano Celebration has raised over $350,000 for the house! Free-will donations accepted throughout both days at information tables located outside of Dillard's, Younkers and J.C. Penney.

Piano Celebration was founded by a group of piano teachers and music educators called Piano For A Richer Life. The goal of Piano For A Richer Life is to increase an awareness, recognition, and support for the study of piano for people of all walks of life. They assist organizations and individuals who teach, support, and provide music education in their schools and communities.
